Manager Management: Strengthen Leadership & Management Effectiveness

When you manage managers, your leadership reaches beyond one person. The way you guide, trust, coach, and develop your managers can influence the performance and culture of the teams they lead. Manager Management helps participants build the skills needed to develop new managers while continuing to support experienced leaders. Participants will explore setting specific goals, defining authority, creating a shared vision, and gradually increasing responsibility as managers develop their capabilities. The course also focuses on measuring performance through budgets, measurable objectives, skip-level feedback, and agreed evaluation criteria. Participants will explore ways to motivate managers by providing resources, incentives, recognition, and meaningful challenges. Participants will learn to recognize signs of poor management, including missed deadlines, team turnover, customer loss, and lack of growth. They will also explore how to trust managers without micromanaging, encourage open communication, and respond appropriately when employees raise concerns about their managers. The course concludes with coaching and mentoring, performance reviews, timely feedback, 360 degree feedback, building ownership, and understanding when leaders need to step in because of safety, legal, financial, or repeated performance concerns.
